The Jacques Maritain Institute is a non-profit Italian cultural institute, whose vision and programmes are inspired to the French philosopher Jacques Maritain, one of the greatest thinkers of the XX century. A witness of the major events of our times, he actively participated it was one of the fathers of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948 and a defender of democracy against totalitarian regimes and ideologies; his thought on democracy, arts and sciences offer robust and sound tools for interpreting the current changes.
The Jacques Maritain Institute programmes deal primarily with:
- transition and democratisation in Central and Eastern Europe
- education and training policies
- cultural policies and cultural dialogue.
Thanks to the contribution of Italian and foreign experts, the Institute promotes training courses, publications, researches.
